I was working out the other day, doing high-paced aerobics and my sides began to hurt really bad, just below the rib cage on both sides. It was most likely my diaphragm - I'm somewhat asthmatic - but I had done the same workout days before without any problems. The only difference was that I hadn't eaten much or had a lot of water the day of the pain. Could slight dehydration add to the cramping?Side pain when I work out?
The side pain is most commonly known as a stitch, which can be brought on because you're body is not used to the exercise, or you aren't breathing correctly.
A more serious contribution to the pain can have something to do with your asthma, which I know nothing about so I can't help you there.
The next time you go to the doctors you can casually ask about this problem =]
the side pain likely stopped when you stopped working out. it sounds like lactic-acid buildup, and it's basically a warning from the body that you may be overdoing things a bit.
yes that could be possible. I get that allot but mines caused by asthma. do you have an inhaler? because that seems to help with my pains go away. so if you haven't i would go see a doctor about it. other wise i have a breathing technique that helps my side pains go away
think about how you normally breath right now. when you breath in your stumach goes in and vice versa well when you run what i do is breath in and stick out my stumach and then breath out and pull it in. it might seem a bit confusing. but its pretty simple and it helps me control my breathing. it might help you with the pains. =]
i was once in an aerobic class and this girl had severe side pain, our trainer said that she sucked in too much air. i mentally bulleted that fact, and made sure to always take smaller continuous breaths.
