Tear in shoulder tendon (ligament)?

I am wondering if anyone knows about surgery for a full thickness tear in a shoulder tendon. Does it take long to recover? Do i really need surgery? Can i fix it without surgery? How long does it take to heal with or without surgery.
Thank youTear in shoulder tendon (ligament)?
It is not clear whether you are referring to a ruptured tendon or a torn ligament. Tendons connect muscle to bone. They are difficult to recover from, and mostly require surgery, but it is possible to recovery fully from a ruptured tendon.
Ligaments connect bone to bones across joints. Full thickness ligament tears almost always require surgery, and almost never heal on their own. Even with surgery, the recovery is not always complete.
As always, discuss these and any questions with your doctor.
I'm not a doctor, but since the tendons connect muscle to bone, you probably need surgery.
What happens when these tear is the muscle becomes pretty useless, it can't contract anymore. I don't think it heals itself either. BUT I'm not a doctor. I've just learned all this in Anatomy class :D
the best advice i can give is to talk it over with your doctor, but you probably will need surgery.
i would see a doctor but it sounds like you will need surgery.
