I have a theory. After eating blood gets shunted to the GI tract for digestive purposes, but for some reason happens excessively (eg., GI bleeding or -----?) in my case, which then leaves the lungs with an inadequate blood supply, also leading to tachycardia (which accompanies the air hunger). These symptoms are also accompanied by an instinctive desire to drink, elevate my legs and lie prone in an attempt to alleviate my breathlessness. Will be very grateful for any comments or alternative interpretations.Sometimes after a meal I get what I think is best defined as air hunger.?
It would be best to talk to your doctor about this. Breathlessness is not a normal effect of eating. It could be a number of things, such as food allergy (as mentioned above), reflux, heart problems, or lung problems -- and hopefully it is nothing serious -- but you should see a doctor, who can see what is going on.
Those symptoms are more closely related to a food allergy. You need to keep a close eye on what you are eatting. You could stop breathing and die. Try to recall everything that you have eatten prior to this happening.Start a food diary and get into the Dr. Your Dr. may get you started on allergy testing or get you on an elimination diet.Don't fool around with this, it's quite serious. I have to carry an epinephrine injection kit with me, because of my food allergies. I am allergic to Peanuts, shellfish, molds as in penicillin and blue cheese,MSG sensitivity,Artificial food coloring. Get yourself to a Dr. soon . In the meantime get some Benadryl and keep it available in case this happens again. The liquid is better in case your throat starts to swell shut.
Drinking more water is the best thing as there is Oxygen in the water and your body will assimilate that. Drink lots of water between bites of food. That's why you want to drink, but use water.
